Purpose

DO'S AND DON'T'S OF CAMPUS LIFE

Don't skip class - Even though some professors post notes online, those notes may not cover what was mentioned in class.
Do go to office hours - By building a relationship with professors and TA’s you may get a better understanding of class material and a better grade.
Don't party the night before an exam or quiz - There will always be parties at MSU. Do participate - Get comfortable with participating in class discussions and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Don't sleep in class - There is no point in going if you sleep most of the time and it gives those around you a bad impression. Do ask others to study with you - Get to know a few people from your class. They may understand something you don’t.
Don't procrastinate - By doing this, you will alleviate stress and it gives you enough time to correct mistakes. Do be active on campus - There are organizations and activities that appeal to any and everyone on campus. Get involved.
Don't have your cell phone on during class - It is unprofessional and can cause unnecessary distractions. Do extend yourself to different cultures and ethnicities - Getting different perspectives and aspects can always be useful.
Don’t take too many credits - It is important to be proficient, and by taking on too much you may become overwhelmed.
Do go to the library - Go between and after classes just to get familiar and comfortable with the building.
Don’t be afraid to meet new people - Networking is an important skill that will be useful throughout life Do introduce yourself to others - You never know what you can offer another person or what they can offer you.
Don’t be afraid to do things alone - From meetings to eating in the cafeteria, sometimes you do them by yourself. Do take advantage of extra help and resources on campus - Visit the Writing Center, Math Learning center and Multicultural Center.
Don’t always follow the crowd - Establish yourself as an individual and get to know who you are.
