The Detroit rapper Proof was killed in Detroit early Tuesday morning. According to the Detroit News, a suspect has turned himself in to police (click here for more information)

A statement from Code of the Cutz about the event:

Saturday, April 15 - 3 - 7 p.m.
Code of the Cutz
317 M.A.C. Avenue
East Lansing

As many of you know, Proof of D12 was shot in the head along with one of his companions on tuesday morning at an after hours club in Detroit. Unfortunately, Proof did not survive. The other man is still in critical condition.

This comes as a heart wrenching shock to me. I have been asked by some of you to hold a forum at the store to discuss what has happened. I will not let this get out of control and turn towards a BEEF IN HIP HOP discussion.

Nobody, at this point, knows why Proof was killed. It may have nothing to do with hip hop. So I have consented to have a forum at the store honoring Proof and what he has done for the Michigan Hip hop community. The discussion will also include exploring such questions as to why people carry guns and settle disputes with violence instead of with words and intelligence and what, if anything, can truely be done to stop these senseless killings from happening. Please come by the store 3pm -7 pm to honor a life and mourn an essential loss in this community.
