Welcome Back, MSU!
Home of the Spartan(edger)s

diane-editorMy mom always insisted on having a first day of school picture featuring both my sister and me. Even when I reached the age where being photographed by your parents isn’t cool anymore, she made me stand outside facing our sunflower garden wearing my lip gloss ring, butterfly-print shirt and lace-up bell bottoms. Ok, so that was eighth grade, but I have to admit, I kind of miss it. (Not the lip gloss ring, though. That can stay in 1999.)

So instead of the token first day picture (often featuring Disney character-themed backpacks and thermoses,) I can offer you this: our welcome back issue. Although we may not have that red “Jurassic Park” lunch box featuring T-Rex devouring an SUV, we do have exciting new stories, blogs and multi-media from our old-timers, and some from our new voices as well.

Think of us standing there awkwardly on our parents’ front porch with our pencil cases, ready to face the world. Or well, as much of the world as fits into a 30-kid classroom. Everyone is still in excited, awake, “let’s do something!” mode, where notebook paper is fresh, pencils are sharpened, studying seems better than boredom, and we haven’t even started procrastinating…yet.

So what does the new year bring? Bigger and better sections focusing on campus events, music, fashion and sports. Fresh faces and opinions from our wide variety of bloggers. Cutting-edge video, photos and audio. Stick around; it’s going to be great.
